Prerequisites

Step 1: Generate Application Password in WordPress
WordPress uses Application Passwords for secure API authentication. Here's how to create one:
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard
- Navigate to Users → Profile
- Scroll down to the Application Passwords section
- Enter a name for your application (e.g., "Ghost.blog")
- Click Add New Application Password
- Copy the generated password immediately (it will only be shown once!)

Step 2: Add Your WordPress Site in Ghost.blog
Now that you have your Application Password, let's connect your WordPress site to Ghost.blog:
- Log in to your Ghost.blog dashboard
- Click on Integrations in the sidebar
- Click the Add WordPress Site button
- Fill in the connection form with your WordPress site details:
- Website URL: Your full WordPress site URL (e.g., https://yourblog.com)
- Username: Your WordPress admin username
- Application Password: The password you generated in Step 1
- Click Connect Site

Step 3: Verify the Connection
After clicking "Connect Site," Ghost.blog will verify the connection to your WordPress site. You should see:
- A success message confirming the connection
- Your WordPress site listed in the Integrations page
- The site URL and connection date displayed
Troubleshooting: If the connection fails, double-check:
- Your WordPress URL is correct and accessible
- The Application Password was copied correctly
- Your WordPress site is running version 5.6 or higher
- Application Passwords are enabled on your WordPress site
Step 4: Create and Publish Your First Post
Congratulations! Your WordPress site is now connected. Let's create your first post:
- Navigate to Create Content in the sidebar
- Fill in your blog post details:
- Title: Your post headline
- Excerpt: A brief summary (optional but recommended)
- Content: Your main post content (supports Markdown)
- Status: Choose Draft or Published
- Click Create Content
- Your content is now saved and ready to be published to WordPress!
